Dr Pedus Eweama

Many in the health, business and not-for-profit community regard Imo State born Dr. Pedus Eweama as a leading authority in strategic health policy reforms and innovation. A change agent, Pedus has close to 20 years experience working in
healthcare delivery and administration of public, private enterprises and not-for-profit organizations.

He has been involved in innovative business reforms and community mobilization. Pedus has held various senior roles within the West Australian Department of Health, and in 2007 was tapped to lead the Clinical Service Redesign Project of the West Australian Department of Health (North Metropolitan Area Health Service), a project which has since transformed access to and delivery of healthcare within the health service. Pedus is the founder and Co-director of Christina-Mae Recruitment, an educational consultancy, career counselling and mentoring organization with several institutional clients. He is a past and current member of various private and public boards and committees, including holding current membership of the West Australian Primary Health Alliance Clinical Council and member of the WA Department of Health Advance Care Planning Community Reference Group. A vibrant grassroots mobilizer and community leader, Pedus was the first ever person of African descent to be elected 1 st Vice President, Georgia Association of Nursing Students in a Statewide election.

He was the past chairperson of Igbo Association of Western Australia (IAWA), current chairperson of Nigerian Association of Western Australia (NAWA), convener and current chairperson of the Council of Nigerian Associations Presidents in Australia (CoNAPA) which is the apex leadership forum for all Nigerian national associations across Australian States and Territories. He is the author of two books, When Things Go Wrong: Concepts of Change and Nursing Stories: Ordinary People, Extraordinary Journey.

Pedus holds a Bachelor of Arts degree (Suma Cum Laude) from Governors State University, Bachelor of Science in Nursing (Cum Laude) from Armstrong Atlantic State University, Master of Occupational Health & Safety (Environment) from Curtin University and a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery from Oceania University of Medicine. He is a recipient of various academic achievement awards, a graduate of WA Office of Multicultural Interest (OMI) Leadership & Governance program and listed on the prestigious Who’s Who Among Students in American
Universities & Colleges.
