Associate Professor Oyelola Adegboye

Dr. Oyelola Adegboye, a prince from Offa in Kwara State, Nigeria, is a distinguished academic and global health researcher with over two decades of experience across Africa, the Middle East, and Australia. He is an Associate Professor of Biostatistics and a chartered Senior Biostatistician at the Menzies School of Health Research, Charles Darwin University, Northern Territory. He is also the President of the Nigerian Community of Northern Territory.

He holds a PhD in Statistics from the University of the Western Cape (South Africa), an MSc in Biostatistics from Hasselt University (Belgium), and both an MSc and BSc in Statistics from the University of Ilorin (Nigeria). He was recognised by Stanford University and Elsevier as one of the top 2% of scientists worldwide, reflecting his significant and sustained impact on scientific research. In 2021, he received the James Cook University Vice Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in Research, highlighting his outstanding academic achievements. In 2024, he was appointed to the United Nation’s Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) Expert Advisory Group on the Strategic Framework for Animal Health Threats, further affirming his international leadership in public health resilience.

Dr. Adegboye previously lived in Townsville, where he served as Vice President of the Nigerian Community between 2021 and 2023.
